Glasshouse

Hulking iron and glass structures surround and protect a living, botanical library in the Temperate and Palm houses at Kew Gardens in southwest London. These Victorian structures serve twenty-first century conservation needs, housing endangered flora--some that are extinct in the wild. The scientific importance of these plant palaces is equal to the wonder and spectacle experienced by those who come to visit. This series celebrates both the glasshouses and the plants they protect, often contrasting the organic plant forms against the inorganic architectural structures.
